Hi All,

When I checked my V5 (Registration Document) it stated that my car can only carry 4 passengers including the driver , I questioned this with the DVLA, whom confirmed that the manufacturers spec they have been advised of, for this car is for four seats only So if this is the case why are there five factory fitted seat belts

My employer’s insurance company have said that if I carry five people in the car, I have technically overloaded the car and therefore will not be insured, which can lead onto other motoring offences.

My local dealer has confirmed that their Demo’s are also stated as four passengers including the driver on the V5’s and have taken the matter up with Land Rover.

Anyone else noticed this?

My car was registered 20 July 2007 ,just checked the log book and seating is 4(four). Clearly this is wrong?? will contact my dealer tomorrow.

Vehicle registered 30\6\07..............No.of seats including driver 5 (five)

Would be interested to know what others have on their V5 ______________________

That's us below. Kids are happy, aren't they? Not sure about the Mrs though...




It doesn't inspire much confidence in DVLA when you go to their Cherished Numberplate site, and when you use the option of viewing your chosen numberplate on a car, you can choose a Freelander or a Freelander2, but they've got them mixed up.

Well worth a check. Not sure if it will endanger insurance or not though ?

Mine is only 4 Checked the D3 which is correct, but doesn't list the model, whereas the Fl2 model is listed  D4 HSE Lux for me
FL2 HSE Zermatt & Alpacca for the wife now gone
Skoda Yeti L&K for the wife.

Mine says 4  Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

Just checked mine. It says 4 also.
I'll have a word with my Land Rover dealer this week.
I wonder what the equivalent document says for FL2 owners in other countries.

Also my V5 says I have a Freelander SE TD4 with a 2179cc engine. Not an FL2.
I can see I am going to be stopped by the police if I don't get this sorted out

It is a worry as if only 4 seats then when five on board will the insurance be valid?, I intend to check with my insurance, I also feel L/R should be made aware.( there are seat belts for 5!!!!)  David
