4th service!!!!

I'm in for my 4 year service and I'm moving dealers... does £358 sound a lot? Then it's my MOT!! £58 at the same dealer. I know I can get the MOT for half the price but I will feel better knowing it's been checked by LR. I'm also going to get my parking sensors checked.... start car to a long beeeeeep and then no front or back sensors sounding, just a flashing light in dash button, they think it's the rubber seals!

My 4th service is imminent. Haven't booked it yet but will report back with price. £358 sounds a little high - I don't intend to pay that much.
As for MOT. If your dealer is anything like mine, they just drive it to a local test station after you drop it off. I don't think many dealers are also registered testing stations and I very much doubt that they spend much time inspecting it themselves for £58.

I'm off to Copley Halifax... have used farnell Bradford before but not keen on their idea of customer service...! Just tried them now to get a 4 th year quote to see if Halifax is high, phone answered asked for service dept, told to call back too busy, phone put down by them! I might have needed a new engine for all they cared! Any one had the same experience with parking sensors? I'd like to check the dealers idea against some forum facts. cheers

coincidentally just rang my servicing team this very morning to get a quote for 4yr service having done 53000 and due before march. I use team valley land rover in yes you guessed it team valley, gateshead in the northeast

they quoted £267 for service

seemed very reasonable to me was concerned might be cam belt time, my sister is having a shocker with a seat leon 4 years old dealers all asking her for extra £400 just to replace the belt then high £200s for service

We've got a 5 year old A4 1.9 TDi with 55K on the clock. The dealer wants £400 for a cam belt and £100 quid for the water pump as 'you might as well do it as well while we've got the front off'. Guess that is the same story with the Leon as they are more than likely the same engine... On the other hand, service is only £99 (small) or £199 (major) and MOTs are free - Go figure!

Stratstone Stockton have just offered to do my 4th service for £405 plus VAT and as an incentive they offered me a half price on the MOT
Don’t think so, will be off up to Gateshead to see the chaps at Team Valley Land Rover in early March, it’s still worth the diesel money and you get a free courtesy car

farnell bradford have just quoted £310 Inc vat for 4th year service, Team valley sounds like a great price. bit far to drive though! I'm going to try Copley LR to match the price or go with BA farnell ... it's £48 cheaper and hi q are £25 for mot.

have to say i havent had many good experiences with stratstone dealers over the years except for when i bought my 07 one year old from stratstone durham, had been sat on their forecourt for a few months and got a cracking deal

Still they shut up trading about 2 months later so i think i was very lucky with timing their

used team valley for all work since having this one and they are very helpful, when my father bought a new one earlier this year first thing i said was use team valley so when he popped by recently with a blocked washer nozzle and asked them to check the oil level they proceeded to top it up for free.

and as you say they always lay on a courtesy car for free

Stratstone in Nottingham do a price match policy on services, not sure if the same applies across the group The missus - SD4 HSE - Black - 2012
Me - BMW 330d Saloon - Black - 2011

Stratstone near me price matched my last service against the local 4x4 specialist, you've nothing to lose by asking.

From what i understand the price matching is a group wide policy but what grates with me is the initial profit gouging.

i run a private business and have nothing against businesses making a profit but if it is unnecessarily large and you get caught doing it i think you deserve to lose some custom.

That and Stratstone just really irked me in stockton when i took the old mand to have a look at buying his freel2, they treated us like we were wasting their time and they had better things to do. This even though we turned up in my freelander so any savy salesperson should have recognised he wouldnt have to sell the merits of the car. Kinda tempted to get him to pop his new one down there just so the salesman can see the ripon landrover sticker on the back window.

We got ours from Stockton about two years ago, no problems and a little bit of toing and froing later got what I thought was a good deal, not a bad buying experience, however as I understand it the chap we did the deal with has now moved on up to Jaguar at Newcastle so can’t comment on the present set up. Not that impressed with the service guy I spoke to an a couple of occasions, didn’t fill me with confidence and that’s why I travel up to TVLR, seem like genuine people doing a good job at a good price (up to now)

Stratstone Stockton just quoted me £280 all in for my 4th service. Thats taking into account the fuel filter not needing replacing as they did that 3 weeks ago @ a cost of £85.

I guess that wont include the optional brake fluid change either?

Think I'll be giving Team Valley a ring.....
