Matt, Freelanders are seen as silly toys compared to Discos, therefore not a real mans car, rather a girlies or hairdrssers car.

They are quite proud to be towing things etc, so any comments saying otherwise is treated with contempt. CG will know this. In truth, they are a lot more serious about things than say this forum.

Chicken George is a Gaylander member, a Chicken Farmer, who has nothing better to do with his life than make provocative comments about cars not being black and appears to hate Caravans. Finding this thread funny, he's posted it on the Freel2 site and linked it. Obviously a Norman No Friends who is to be pittied.

Usually it is a psychological thing with an underlying problem with size, which means dangerdave bought a big car and belittles anything smaller because he has a small appendage.

The Disco 4 is considered by disco owners as 'a real mans car' because it can get places we can't cos of ground clearance and its sheer physical size.

On the LR day though the Disco 4 took 7 attempts to get up a muddy slope in the hands of an instructor which I got up in one in the FL2. The instructor said what the FL2 lacks in ground clearance it makes up for in other areas so overall it is just as good off road.

As for size, the FL2 is a large enough car without having to flounder about in town centres on small streets like a disco does. We are faster too, especially the SD4.

Perhaps the Discovery should be re-named the Disc'puff'ery Laughing LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
