Different look with black rear door pillar.

The rear door pillar is quite wide and makes the freely look short, i think...

when scraping the door on a Swedish LRoffroad meeting I had to get the door fixed and painted. I also got the rear pillars blacked out. What do you think?

I like it. Sure looks different. Like a Range Rover. Or a Skoda Yeti...

Cheers all, happy X-mas from snowy cold Sweden

It is something I have considered doing for a long time. Now I have seen it done, I think I will do it.

That makes a huge difference to the side view, I think it looks a bit stunted from side on, not unlike a Tonka toy Laughing , much nicer now! Thumbs Up

I imagine instead of using paint an alternative could be to use that type of vynil wrap stuff in matt or semi gloss then it could be reverted back to standard if the need arose when selling it on?
Maybe you can get the stuff in gloss finish too then it would look like a continuation of the privacy glass Idea I was only wrong once and thats when I thought I was but wasnt.

Remember, part of the rear door window frame has to be done as well, also you would have to paint the return in part as well or you will see an original colour in the gap.

I donīt think it can be made without paint.
We discussed at the car painters if the paint should be glossy or matte but as the other pillars are matte we settled for matte.

Darker privacy film was added, the windows were not dark enough, I thought. Now itīs a bit too dark when reversing, but light inside from the glass-roof.

Todays venture was changing the hse alloys to Volvo alloys.

When the rear wheels were off, you could see the Mantec tankguard full of sand and dirt.

Here it is with the Volvo R alloys

Not too sure about the alloys?

I spoke to a chap in Cambridge recently who put 20in RR supercharged alloys on his FL2 HST, now they looked good Thumbs Up

If you go ahead & do it with vinyl please post some pics and any tips you gain from the experiance, I quite like the look of torssells. What if there were no hypothetical situations?

I'd never have believed it made such a positive difference until I saw the photos. That was a gutsy move to change the colour spec at the spray shop but I believe it's made a huge difference. It's reminds me of the new Evoque due out soon. It would have to be pretty easy to apply some black adhesive (vinyl?) and take some piccies. I'd do it myself but the ship takes a long time to travel to the land downunder so my order hasn't arrived yet. I've ordered Stornaway Grey and my best efforts in Powerpoint (don't have Photoshop) indicate a huge difference. I don't know why but the FL2 always looks short???
