Winter tyre pressures

Just wondered what you guys / gals were inflating your winter (and indeed summer) tyres too.

The reason I ask is I put some 235/60/18 Wintracs on a few weeks ago and inflated to the usual 2.2 bar. When looking at the Verdestien website tyre pressure chart for the FL2 the say 2.7 bar for that tyre.

I have tried both now and whilst the ride is a bit harsher at 2.7 it seems more stable and controlled but wondered if the extra pressures were needed to support the what must be, softer walls etc? The missus - SD4 HSE - Black - 2012

I bought mine from Vredestein's from AJS4x4 and they said the they should be run at 2lb above LR recomended pressure, still seems a soft ride copared to the 19" that were on for the summer though.

PSI = Pounds per Square Inch, so add 2 more psi than normal if I'm reading your question right. Or do you want to know LR recommendation psi for your tyres. 2007 TD4 S Zermat Silver, maual, panoramic sunroof, rear headrest entertainment system, towbar for trailer.

here's the link http://www.vredestein.com/Onlineadvies_Adv...D=94795954

There's a bottom to convert to PSI in the top right corner. 2.7 bar equates to 39psi

I guess the manufacturer of the tyre knows best about what psi to run them at ? The missus - SD4 HSE - Black - 2012

AJS told me for my wintracs that 4-6 psi extra is what Vredstein advise. They set mine at 4psi up.

So AJS are saying 36-38 psi and vred are saying 39psi, sounds about right then

The thing is a lot of time tyre manufacturers don't know what car the tyres are going on to, how can they state a pressure when they don't know the weight or make of the vehicle Exclamation
LR state the pressure on axle weight amongst other things, so who is right Question

normally i would agree other than their list is by make, model and year so is vehicle specific. if you find that tyre on volvo for instance it shows a different pressure which would make you think it is deffo vehicle specific? who knows. Feels fine at 39psi so will stick at that I think The missus - SD4 HSE - Black - 2012

I have been watching my tyre pressures each morning on the screen and they have dropped from the normal 35psi when cold to around the 33psi, so today i have put in the cold weather extra couple of pounds

Not fitted my winter tyres yet but checked the pressures of the normal tyres on Saturday and their recommended pressure in psi is 33 front 26 rear. They were down to 28 front and 22 rear so I duly inflated them.

I must say I was wondering if extra pressure was needed for winter tyres. Perhaps I should email the website I purchased from or email continental Confused LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Last winter I just ran my Avons at the standard pressure recommended by LR for the size of tyre, and they felt absolutely fine at that so I'll be doing the same this winter when I put them on.

The Doc doesn't have a Freelander any more - the pressures he's talking about are for a Fiesta, or some other non-LR tin box... Whistle
