As the parent of a 2 year old scamp and a 4 year old maniac I fear for them in almost every waking moment. I imagine, and immediately banish from mind, horror scenarios that might befall them. They love the windows open when we're out and about, and for that reason I disable their controls. But imagine someone switched it on and a wee arm was out the window when auto up was pressed. Would the window amputate the arm or would the mechanism sense the obstruction and reverse? I'm a bit tempted to try it with an apple or something.

I know I'm mental but humour me......

Probably chop the apple in half, but the auto stop wouldn't go thro' a childs arm. It would stop and retract a bit. Still wouldn't like to do it, be a bit sore. Try your arm if you must rather than the oddspings!

I have 2 little kids, and the same fear. Try to put something in between (a small empty carton box) when the window is closing and you will see the reaction.

You'd be surprised how sensitive the motor load sensors are, I use to have those wind deflectors that fitted in the top window channel and every time the window sensed the tightness it sent it down again.
I have put my arm in to test them and it wasn't a bad experience, but a child may think differently but believe me the 'anti pinch' is sensitive enough not to cause harm.

Auto windows would just retract and I doubt it would even leave a mark

I also doubt your kids would be able to have there hands that high too, especially a 2 year old due to the child seat 3 point harness

Test it out by putting your arm in there

Speak from experience, when as a kid I was leaning out the window looking at view whilst been driven down a beach road, I made contact with the window close button and is closed on my neck, choking me, the chocking noise was out the car so my parents didn't realise straight away, but my panicking soon alerted them and the window dropped using the drivers controls, though this was pre safety windows

Best bet is to tell your kids to keep there limbs inside and not to try grab tall grass when driving past, they cut their hands open like i did  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I had my arm inside the window of our Verso when we had it and one of my kids thought it would be funny to shut the window.... All i can say is that it hurt ! and did not wind down enough for me to remove my arm so I was stuck until some one could go into the car and wind it back down

It did'nt do any lasting damage, but I would not want one of my kids arms - or god forbit there head in there

Just tried stopping rear door window opening,after de-icing it!!
No problem, only light pressure required to stop it. Come on,
try it you wimps.
