Will OEM 16" / 17" wheels fit a 11MY SD4 HSE?

Hi All,

I'm a new Freelander 2 owner - 11MY SD4 HSE. It's my first LR but going well so far - very pleased with it.

Quick question : it has 19" wheels which I didn't really want to be honest but that's what was available rather than an order. I want to have a spare set of smaller wheels for winter tyres - I go to the Alps / Scottish Highlands a lot through winters. 16 or 17 inch wheels seem like a good bet as finding AT/Winter tyres for these sizes is that much easier. But... will 16 or 17 inch OEM Freelander 2 wheels fit the SD4 HSE? I just wanted to check caliper size, offset etc are all ok for clearance and fit.

Anyone know for sure...?

Thanks!

There is another thread on here some where regarding this, 17" will be ok but there seems to be a bit of confusion to whither 16" will be ok. If you need a set of Rims and Tyres you could try one of the site sponsors http://www.ajstyres.co.uk/special_offers.html a call I dealt with them a month or so ago and they were very helpful. Thumbs Up

We knew this already but for the record I can confirm that 17" OE Freelander 2 wheels do indeed fit the SD4 - did it today with plenty clearance.

Thanks again.

Actually all the MY2011 cars have the same 300mm vented front dics and 302mm solid rear discs regardless of engine. Only the 3.2 i6 has the 316mm brakes.

So the 16" wheels should fit no problem. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

ooh thats embarrassing.... I stand corrected Mav71 Bow down

Apologies 11SD4 , I'm sorry about that! Embarassed

I'm sure there is a technical reason for SD4 not having 16" as OE though. If not brakes, it could well be speed rating on tyres?

It's purely down to specification, 16" wheels are only available on the 'S' model, and the 'S' is the only model not available with the SD4 engine. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

nothing to do with SD4 being higher max speed requiring a different speed rating tyre? (He says clutching at straws?) Laughing

I wouldn't have thought so, the TD4 has a top speed of 112mph and the SD4 is 118mph. But after looking on the net, some European Countries have the SD4 available with 16" wheels. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Cars sold in the EU must have a certificate of conformity, which does explain all technical data as well as allowed changes without going through Gov. administrations.

my certificate tells me I can use these tyres on my FL2 SE Diesel
