United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Barolo Black
Video of reverse solenoid connector reseat on FL2

In a moment of madness this morning I recorded a video to show this process. It's a first attempt at a video so don't be too critical! Also I'm not a mechanic and was working one handed whilst recording, so hoping not to get it in the neck from "proper mechanics" or video production experts Very Happy

Find it here:

Enjoy!

Just a late comment and thanks from me for that video (and for the earlier comments in this thread too)!! I had the same problem on my 07 FL2 and that was one of the quickest jobs I've ever done - must have taken me all of 5 minutes and the reverse solenoid is now working perfectly again after sliding the connection in and out a few times!

Cheers

Jim

That connector looks like the same type that causes the "Interior Motion Sensor" fault and the cure is exactly the same procedure, Unplug it and Plug it back in again!

It's really easy..
The sensor is located in one of two places depending on whether or not you have a sun roof.
Assuming no sun roof.
In the head lining, just about middle of the roof, you will see a rectangular plastic box.
Prise off the cover (give it a good tug) and you will find a green plug, just remove the plug and refit it.
Refit the cover and test for the DTC, should be fixed now.
Job Done!

Look for No 4 in this pdf file.

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Zermatt Silver

This thread has been very helpful, our F2 manual had been having the same issues ie. reverse could be selected when moving and also the gear sticking in reverse. I have done the reverse solenoid clip a couple of times but the fault is back. Is there a more permanent fix? I was going to see if I can tighten the connection a bit, either nipping shut or pushing some foil or something onto the connector to make tighter, any suggestions please?

Fault returned :(

hello forum, it seems the problem returned just a month after fixing it with disconnecting the connector and reconnecting. Anyone knows which side the underlining fault lies? As i not been using 6th, 5th has been manageable. but think it is time to try and do a more permanent fix. any advise be greatly appreciated.

cheers, Simon
