Low Coolant Warning

This morning "Low coolant" warning message popped up on screen. However there's plenty of coolant in the engine, its only recently been serviced.

Its been driven about a few times today and had gap between journeys and hasn't appeared since.

Should I have it checked or put it down to 1 of those things?

Our D3 not long after we got it had this warning come on intermittently, and also a mate's RRS, and it turned out to be faulty sensors. I know they're different cars but if it's under warranty get it looked at.

You just know it won't do it again until someone comes to look at it when you're selling! Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Are you sure it was the coolant level and not the screen wash level instead ???

Once I had the same message, there was a small leak in the cooling circuit. I had a small hose changed under warranty and that was all about. Later was a recall for the same issue. I think that this happens only to the i6 engines like mine.

It was definately Coolant, I topped up screen wash ready for the weekend, plenty of that in there.

Might be worth just passing by the dealers, rather be safe than sorry.

I had similar problem a month or two back, checked the level and all seemed ok, however my drive has very slight slope to the front and I noticed that that the warning was only coming on when it was parked on the front of the drive. Topped up with replacement coolant from LR, to just between Min & Max and have had no warning light since.

It happened again this morning, started it up and "Low Coolant Level" flashing at me. It's got plenty of coolant in there.

I'm popping down the dealers later. Twisted Evil

ditto toeknee's response. my drive has a slight slope and i started getting this message every morning, never got it when i left work at night. I put half a litre of distilled water in and hey presto - no warning message!

Well took it in, and the garage is like a building site from doing a refurb. Got chatting to 1 of the mechanics, Really nice chap, he thought it was due to the extreme cold, but fiddled around the car and added some extra coolant and said it should be fine.

So fingers crossed. Its been crazy cold today but its been ok so far.
