Water marks, Santorini Black

Can anyone give me a tip, or product, to help prevent water marks after washing the car. Unfortunately its Santorini black (not my choice, it was used and a very good deal). No matter what I do, including leathering down straight afterwards, I still get water marks. it is polished with autoglym resin polish. If i polish it all i seem to do is polish in the water marks!. Any tips or suggestions will be greatfully recieved.

Thanks in advance,

1stfreelander.

turtle wax 'wax it wet'

mist with that stuff the car after washing, dry it with a couple of drying towels, also excellent on glass Thumbs Up

makes the car shine without all the labour and hassle. I use a towel in each hand so you can work faster and also lean on the car without leaving hand prints. I used to have very hard water which would leave terrible water marks without that wax

After using your Autoglym "super resin polish", give it a coat of Autoglym "Extra Gloss Protection",
I used the resin twice a year and then just Extra Gloss Protection as and when it needed it (once a month or so)

Hi i have same problem, This is caused by the water evaporating faster than the minerals in the water, which leaves the water markes. I have found two ways of dealing with this the 1st one is a Flash Car Wash system this can be brought off of ebay and works by filtering the water. This does not get rid of all the markes but does make it alot easyer when drying. The second is called Rinse Pimp does the same thing as the flash system but with far better results ( no need to dry the car at all) but costs more money. Hope this helps. Smile

Try a clay bar

and your in a hard water area by the sounds of it

get an inline filter something like a Aquaglym one ultimatefinish sell them

takes out all the deposits/minerals that been left on your car when you washing it after the water evaporates

£50 well spent if your suffering, people say they don't need to dry it too with them Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

When I had my mobile valeting company, I never had problems with water marks on any colour car.
Just make sure you have a good leather (chamois) and that it is clean
A good chamois leather is worth its weight in gold.
Just make sure that you don't wash your car in direct sunlight or the water will dry on the car before you can leather it.

Chamois leathers are now deemed a no no in the detailing sector Laughing

Apparently you now need a deep piled drying towel, drying whilst lifting any grit left away from the bodywork Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I have found the easiest and cheapest way to stop the marks is to rinse off with water butt water. I even use my jet wash with this water, just run a hose from the butt with a in-line filter. I can wash the car put it straight away and have very few marks. Very Happy Thumbs Up

It has an inline fine filter, this seems to do the job.

This isn't the one I have but this sort of thing.

I’ve been searching for years for the answer and at the weekend I found it Very Happy

I live in a hard water area and all of my cars end up with white residue if I do not use a leather and it’s a pain in the a*se Big Cry

The answer for me was using Turtle Wax Ice shampoo. It dried almost streak free and was really easy to leather off. Stunning result Thumbs Up

I’m looking forward to using the Ice polish. I tried it on the wife’s solid red Zafira which had gone a dull matt finish. Using the Ice polish it now has a showroom shine which took 30 minutes to apply and polish off. The speed is achieved by being able to apply it to the paint, rubber and plastic. It polishes everything with no white polish residue. I then did all the plastic and rubber on the FL2 and they looked great.

I’ll do the whole of the FL2 at the weekend if I get time but to be honest just using the shampoo was enough.
