Sat Nav Clock

Hi guys,

Is there a trick to make your Sat Nav screen default to the clock when you start the engine ?

It's not a major issue, but 1 more button to press when you get into the car.......

Although by no means a big issue it would be good to have the option of selecting the clock as the default start up screen. I expect there is no way round this otherwise there would be some responses to your query.

The whole design of that could be put to far better use than just Sat-Nav. They should follow Audi's format & use the screen for a hundred & one uses!! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Is there a way to just stop the bloody thing from coming on altogether as it is ****ing useless and I have never completed a journey with it yet. One thing I have found it is good at is making start using a map book again.

It is so bad I want it removing. I find it annoying that I have to turn it off everytime I start the car. It certainly will never be used ever again!

Use mine regularly and find it pretty good. travel fairly often to lancashire , west country, essex etc without much problem.

Not up to Tom Tom standards or the fixed Citroen van 'traffic master ' system but on the whole does the job, never got lost yet.

I wouldnt say its got me lost. Its just that on every journey i've used it I have ended up pulling over and using a map book to get me back on the shortest or quickest route. Each time I have took both time and distance off the satnavs figures. I have taken to switching it off but even that takes about 4 key presses.

For me it has removed all the key reasons sat nav was invented for. After years without the nead for one i've had to go out and buy a map book.

You should have saved your money and bought a GS and a Tom Tom Rolling Eyes

Never had a problems, I put in the address and it takes me there, so what if there is a route that can save a mile or minute or two

The idea of a satnav is that you follow it, not fight each and every instruction Whistle Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

On a route with my old XTrail I had to break free, she kept telling me to go left out in the 'sticks' and I kept ending up in the same place. Eventually I said to the woman ' Censored off and turned right, but she was insistent and in no uncertain terms told me to 'make a U turn', silly cow. Evil or Very Mad

Mine works well, you can choose from 3 routes. Never had any issues!

I think you are missing the point. I'm not talking a mile or two and a few minutes, i'm talking an extra hr journey time and 20 miles or more. That was on a journey that should take 2 and a half hours. On a local 9mile journey the best it came up with was 15miles.

On both occasions you are almost doubling the journey. The problem is that sometimes the 3 routes have a choice equavalent to tom tom, bing or multimap, but after choosing it, it still changes to a longer route. If you dont notice and follow it blindly its too late and your miles out of your way. I'm not fighting it, it just doesnt work.

I've heard others say they have a problem with it not altering its route but blindly directly you back to it. This would be better.

On the last trip, on the step by step, it mentioned A38, A5, M54 etc. The route it took me, without me going wrong at all, was A38, A5192, A461, M6. I pulled over to check it and no M54 any more and so taking me up M6 to head into wales further north and then head south again.

As I had followed onto the A38, why did it change the route?

Surely it's not only me that can see this is mental!

Used my dad's TomTom on a drive from a castle 3 miles south of Edinburgh to Sunderland.

It refused to let me drive North the 3 miles to hit the A1 to head south - instead it wanted me to go down a 'B' road heading towards the snow topped hills.

When I refused and got onto the A1 heading south it kept saying "take the next left turn" etc etc etc

I didn't and just followed the A1/A19 home. 2002 Honda VFR800
