Whilst sitting next to wife driving from South of Scotland to the North the car developed an annoying rattle from centre console whilst car was travelling at about 55 mph. Despite levering every crack, seam with a coin and randomly thumping the plastic bits the rattle carried on until I touched the lower rim of the rear view mirror ..... Peace. |

I couldn't get this to occur when at the dealer's but it persists so I shimmed the mirror with a tiny piece of rubber. Prevents mirror buzzing against the frame of the mirror, is invisible. Problem solved. ... Be true to yourself. That way happiness lies... |

.... Only when she's driving ! She had moved the rear view mirror a little moving the frame around the glass. It was surprising how much noise was coming from the mirror and how far the noise travelled. So far no more rattles. The Freelander is a new car to us having recently upgraded from a Disco3. So far apart from the rattle I like the improved fuel economy, less RFL . The back seat passengers are missing the heated seats though.... |

Once I had a strange rattle from what I thought was the front. Took me weeks to find it. It turned out it was something sitting the rear right door pocket. Couldn't believe it how the sound played tricks on where it was coming from.

take off the external nearside wing vent. This one ..... Check the fixing screws of the air intake pipe are tight. you may be able to get at the nut with just the side indicator popped out. |
