Towbars Again

I have a short list of 3 Tow Bars to chose from

Witter horizontal detachable

Westfalia vertical detachable

Brink/Thule detachable

The Witter does not require any bumper cutting but the other 2 do, I believe the brink is the same as the Land Rover bar & I like the simplicity of the design, has anybody got pics of the brink fitted without the Tow Ball attached ? a pic from the rear showing what the cut out from the bumper looks like would be nice, is it really noticeable.

How easy is the brink to fit ?

Where do you get the bracket ( the one that folds underneath when not in use ?) for the electrical socket What if there were no hypothetical situations?

There is an old picture in my gallery of the towbar without the swan neck fitted, it looks a bit uglier on that one as I now have the one thirteen pin looks neater IMHO you notice the two sockets more than the mount for the swan neck. There is no swivel bracket available for the electrics as there is no space for the sockets to swivel into.

Picture of the LR/Brink with ball attached.

Thanks for the quick reply and the PM, I will be going for the single socket, I recall seeing a pic somewhere of a folding bracket, it must have been on a different motor,
I have trawled the net to try & find fitting instructions for the Brink but no luck so far, if anybody has a link or even the PDF instuctions let me know. What if there were no hypothetical situations?

I have the Witter detachable towbar.

It's very easy to fix. No bumper cuts just a little (ø 20mm) hole behind the left reflector. Freelander 2 SE 4Td Izmir Blue, Dog cage for Alaskan Malamute, iphone Navigon Navigator

Germany 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Alaska White

Personally I would go for Westphalia as the quality is second to none, and the release mechanism for them is much easier than the brink/LR. Freelander 2.2e HSE , Privacy, Fully debadged, 19" Chrome SHadow alloys

I have not seen a Westphalia fitted but the cut out needed looks to be bigger than the Brink, I want to kept it as neat as yours Thumbs Up

The Witter was going to be my first choice, it sits a bit lower than the brink so the Jury is still out.

Thanks for the info. What if there were no hypothetical situations?

The electric that came with my Witter towbar is the same the Westfalia does. Though other nameplates were changed but the instruction are the same as the German PDF from the Westphalia site.

I did buy the complete set here at PF Jones

OK I have made my mind up, I want an original towbar the Brink/Thule detachable type.

Does anybody have one for sale, or know of any good deals ? the cheapest i have spotted on line is £190,00.

Can anybody beat that ? What if there were no hypothetical situations?
