Parking Sensor NEWS

Had my three year service yesterday and also asked for the sensors to be investigated since they were dead while the snow was here.
On collecting, I was told that Land Rover have released a seal component to address the issues many of us experience in the wet. 8 were fitted to my FL2 and, so far, all is well - although it's early days of course.

Andy T,

Who is your dealer so we can all refer our dealers to them as my dealer (Conwy LR) say they have had no communications from LR in connection with this subject.

Is there a Service Bulletin?, if you can get any info you will be a hero to all of us who are still waiting a resolution.

Cheers,

They didn't describe the nature of the seal but I think the sensors now appear to have a grey rubber surround which I don't recall there being before - but I could be wrong. Here's a (poor) photo so someone might be able to compare with theirs. It's encouraging that there is acknowledgement and action by Land Rover. Let's hope it's a good fix. I'll be looking for big puddles to test it Smile

I go to Copley Land Rover in Halifax who clearly have some stock of the part since there was no waiting. From this, I'd assume that all dealers will receive a bulletin and be advised to keep stock - particularly with the current weather!
I'm not aware of any bulletin issued - wouldn't know where to look??

Looks just like mine as they are (Without a mod'n and screaming in this weather Big Cry ). The cone shape surrounding the sensor is just to adjust the sensor to the correct angle.
AndyT can you keep us informed on how they are Thumbs Up

It's the light grey ring between the bezel and the sensor itself which I thought was different. Is everyone's light grey? If so, my recollections are erronious. Confused

Doc, I am aware of this but they were the only dealer to offer me 2.5K for my Shogun 18 months ago when all others were only offering 1.5K plus I got a very good deal for a 3 service package.

If I can get some more info on the seals may try Guy Salmon.

Andy T,

Since your posts on Jan 22/10 can you tell us all if,
a-the modification has cured the problem permanently?
b-You stated that the modified component is Grey but your car is Black, so does the modified part blend into the bumper or is it more noticeable that the original?

Hope you can help with this as my car is OK in dry weather but does not work after or during rain.

Cheers,

Checked the seal on my 2010 and it is black, no doubt. But does the colour matter or does it suggest it is a differnt seal Shocked
