Rusty brake calipers

As the title, I have large patches of rust on my front brake calipers. Does anyone think this is claimable under warrenty. Question Don't put petrol in a diesel. They don't run well.

No they are manufactured from cast steel which rusts naturally and forms a"skin".

In times past cylinder blocks used to be left outside to "weather" before machining the bores.

Get out and give her a few good brakings. They should be gone.

If they stay after a drive and a few brakings, then the front calipers might be not working. Shocked Get them checked.

It's completely normal, that they have it after standing for a while. 2010 Freelander 2 Select TD4 auto....gone

It isn't the disks that are rusty, the calipers (they're the bits that apply the braking force of the pads to the disks) Phil

pw, it's the caliper body your talking I would guess they are cast steel (Can't see them being SG iron due to the safety critical nature of the product) seems they are coated in a currosion preventative such as dipping into zinc but if a particular area of your caliper has started to rust prior to protection being added then it will just keep rusting - it's hardly going to fall to pieces so it's just cosmetic but with it being 'on view' all the time I'd talk to a local dealer with a view to having it replaced or cleaned and painted as a minimum.

Thanks Mcpherson, SWMBO, WOrks for Continental Teves and makes many OEM brakes, All there's are galvanised and carry a 3 year anti corrosion warranty, They do not supply to Landrover unfortunately.

Will Add it to my warranty list. Don't put petrol in a diesel. They don't run well.
