As far as I am aware TMC is those little blue cameras you see everywhere and yes, it's always late |

I had the old style traffic master in a new Vauxhall (subscription paid for a year as part of the car) a few years ago and that was a joke...well behind in reaction time.

The little blue cameras you see belong to the Trafficmaster network. The TMC info is transmitted via the Classic FM station in the uk nothing to do with traffic info on other stations, by tuning it to another station will mean no TMC in the UK. The TMC is supposed to get its info from road sensors, The Highways Agency and local news info etc. If anyone knows different please feel free to correct me. Sorry Headmaster, it seems that the spelling is caused by incompatabilty of the site and my Blackberry, when ever I post on here with my Blackberry it looks ok then when I post it and check the posting it posts a ? instead of a i hence I have just corrected it all the fl?pp?ng m?ss spell?ngs for you CG, so even if I post tra?ler now its looks as though I cannot spell ?t, similar problems happen with the iphone I have noticed. |

According to Wikipedia (?) the information to TMC is very accurate, although the problem with it synchronising with Sat Nav is the accuracy. It is broadcast by locations and Satnav needs it to be more accurate.

I think I'll just disable it (if that's possible) so I at least don't have to listen to the silly old trout babbling on about nothing. It can't be trusted anyway... |

Don't do that. Where is the fun in that. "There is slow traffic ahead".... I know, but where is it. I mean if you are on your own in the car, you can have a great argument, blame her for everything and she won't sulk!!

I was under the impression that TMC was provided by a system called ITIS, which gathers information from lorries etc on how long it takes for them to travel between points along the road.

You are not wrong, but it quite clearly states that it is powered by fairy dust and pixies. Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again... |
