"I tried to emulate this feat this morning in my GS manual but at a really steep bit found that the car began to slide, braking to rest stalls the engine and engaging the clutch disengages the HDC with car sliding. The lane is but 10ft wide with Cotswold stone walls either side so perhaps my inexperience coupled with an expanding sphincter made me bottle it and reverse into a drive turn around and proceed to safety."

Is your main problem above getting up or down Confused

Thought I would post a picture of the lane that I live on - picture shows a lorry whose driver arrogantly assumed that his sat nav had all the answers - regrettably for him it cost £000's to tow him out and pay for all the damaged walls.

Dicretion prevails and I will leave the car at the top of the hill (where it slept last night) for the next day or two. We awoke to 5 inches of snow this morning.

Tenet - Where exactly in The Cotswolds are you? We are over in the east in Charlbury, where we also awoke to a fresh covering of snow and laugh again at the efforts of one of our neighbours who keeps clearing every last trace of the snow from the roadway just in front of her house everyday, (not an inch either side mind you) only to find the next morning it is covered again. Would partially understand if she was going to try and get out, but her car hasn't moved for well over a week now......on the other hand I would prefer a small build up of snow so that the FL2 gets a bit of grip!

Doc - My problems were with going DOWN hill, UP has been a dream.

CG - Very grumpy postie these past 2 days having to hoof it around our hamlet necessitating about a 1/2 mile walk from the main road. The post box is "listed" as it bears an Edward VII crest which is somewhat rare.

As an aside I think I would go for an auto next time apart from the HDC thingy 1st gear seems to short necessatating changing up very quickly. That being said and to avoid doubt, I really do like the car and am very pleased overall.

ps - lem just seen your post - I live just below Minchinhampton Common about 2 mile east of Stroud (the graveyard of ambition) MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

As your correct and I'm wrong I'll always agree with any and all comments regarding black FL2's as my punishment Bow down

And scratch all comments made above as I thought it was going up that was the problem not coming down. Confused

I can see why CG would say no HDC but I would have thought with no low box you would not get enough engine braking and the car would just speed up causing most drivers to go for the brakes. That John Deere is a lovely sight when I'm stuck in my HGV, don't want it infront on a A road though. Laughing
