Grass-Gravel-Snow program automatically selected on startup?

The last couple of days when starting the motor in sub zero temps, the Grass-Gravel-Snow program has automatically been selected. I cant find mention of this in the manual. I can manually turn off the program.
Is this normal, or do I have a potential problem?.
Plus on a couple of occasions (again in sub zero temps), I have no sound from the radio, and parking sensors dont beep. On stopping and restarting, the problem is resolved.

It is normal, it has been mentioned before also the radio not working which we also believe is down to Pressing the Start Button to quickly after inserting the Fob and not giving it time to "Boot Up". It has been said that a Software update will cure the Radio Muting but it has happened once about a year ago and never again and I have not had the Software done for over 18 months.

Hope this helps

There is no reason why it would select GGS without user intervention, you proberly have a fault dial or another reason is that the car will remain in Any TR setting for about 6 hours before reseting back to standard Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I think that the 6 hour rule might apply to my symptoms. I will see what happens in the morning.

The TR does seem to have a mind of its own Shocked If we have been using GGS and stop the engine when going to the shops, it sometimes stays where it should for the given number of hours, or may have gone back to normal. The same happens sometimes overnight were the time lapse should have moved it back to normal, but is sometimes still on GGS. We have only noticed it in winter when we are using GGS. Tis no real problem if you use your visual aid before setting off as one should at least glance over the dash for any other messages, warnings etc.

When using any setting on the TR, turn the dial back to normal then one extra notch before turning off the engine. My co driver says this cancels out the "bug", but I forget to try this Whistle 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Sequence of events next morning.... (-4 Deg)

Put in key and waited a few seconds.
Brake on and pressed start button.
Glow plug light came on for 3-4 secs, started ok.
Got message "speacial program off"
No radio sound, no parking sensors.
Turned off.. took key out.
Repalced key and turned on ignition only.
"Speacial program reset" message, followed by "speacial program off" message
Put foot on barke and started. (No Glow plug light)
Everything works fine!!!

Could these problems be realated to the "Voltage drop" during the start proceedure.
"Glow plugs + Starting" ?

Following on from the sequence of events in the morning.

Started the motor 8 - 10 times during the day, after different journeys, and each time the GGS was selected automatically.

The outside temp was always hovering around zero.

That's odd. Went out for lunch today. In GGS mode as country lanes nicely snow and slushy. Got back in car and was back in Normal, so had to reselect GGS..... No real bother as I noticed it as part of the pre-flight checks Thumbs Up

And no we didn't have a 6 hour lunch Rolling with laughter

Hi Andy-H
I had same problem with mine earlier this month - seems to have resolved itself recently even though temp as cold and still lots of snow on ground. Me thinks the cars is alive! Laughing

I'm gonna wait and see how it goes before I mention it to the dealer. There's always a way forward!

Mine now starts into GGS mode every time I start it up (started happening last Wednesday), irrelevant of the temperature or how long it's been left (under and over 6 hours). Has anyone spoken to their dealer about this issue yet - I find it often helps if I sound semi knowledgable when I call my service department! (only 2 months of warranty left - yikes!)
