Knocking noise cured

At last i have got rid off my annoying knock, after three trips to the dealer, they traced it to the O/S A-pillar where all panels and trim meet at the bottom. This apparently is a known fault and all dealers should have a technicel bulletin. All it takes is for the plastic trim along the sills to be removed stick a screwdriver in somewhere and hit it with a hammer. Hopefully this will help other fl2 owners with this problem.

Stop the knocking

And I thought British Leyland was long dead & buried - sounds like one of the repair techniques used on their models. Laughing

Its the only way to get at the offending parts, all they are doing are adjustments. Its to do with the spaceing between the panels, when they expand and contract. Besides after almost a year off a constant knocking noise i was happy with anything that was going to stop it, and so far so good.

Knocking/Creaking noise noise

Hi, Ive got a 2o13 Freelande 2 that has started to creak from the front end when cornering. The tech guy has come out and said that they will have to fit microphones to the chasis to find out what it is! Do you think that the A pillar noise is the same. Its more of a creaking when turning dwon the drive or round a left hand bend.

Alex, get the A pillar modification done, the symptom of creaking and knocking when slow Corning is exactly what I had. Completely fixed (apart from when really cold) after land rover prised two panels apart with a screwdriver.

The below has been posted before by maffs which should help your quest to convince the dealer.
Have a read at this thread

There's a link from it to a powerpoint document Alex (the knowledge) uploaded
Hope it helps???

Thanks Guys for all your help on this one. Unfortunately after 6 weeks, yes 6 weeks back at the dealers and two technical specialists to try to fix it they can't. They said they had when they returned it but guess what the noises came back after two days!!! They even had the cheek to send it back filthy!!!

After much heart searching I have left the brand with a very sour taste in my mouth and am picking up my new Audi next week. Needless to say the managing director of Jaguar/Landrover has been fully informed. The dealers is useless. Don't EVER buy a new or used car from Hatfileds Landrover in Liverpool!!! They couldn't fix a push bike. Even when I was in the dealership the cleaner came across and said that a guy had just left his new Range Rover on the forecourt with the keys because they couldn't fix that either!!!! He'd had enough as well.....

It a real shame because I loved the car but just couldn't go on with a car that creaked and banged every time I drove it. As compensation they only offerd me £2000 as a good will gesture to move into another car. After this fiasco I wont be buying another one!!!!

PLEASE WARN ANYONE ABOUT THIS>

Happy motoring............................

Yep - on Watchdog last night - Audi dealers lying comprehensively about a range of models that they said had been through and passed the NCAP safety tests when in fact absolutely none of those models had ever been tested by NCAP.

Knowing that I'd never risk putting my daughter in an Audi.

20 years or more ago Mitsubishi sales crashed worldwide when the Japanese authorities declared that that manufacturer had falsified their domestic national crash test results, and had been doing so for over 20yrs. Several senior company executives involved in the scandal were jailed by the Japanese Courts.

One wonders if the lies by the Audi UK dealership network will result in prosecutions under the Sale of Goods Act, or indeed if Audi UK will itself be prosecuted; or that parent company VAG will sack the vast majority of their UK Audi dealership network. I doubt it very much indeed.

Alex@nder25 you are very welcome to your Audi with its non- optional A&E pack.

its very worrying, that a major company has done this,

not surprising that a dealers sales person would say this though, some sales people I have met will say anything to try win that sale and its commission

Didn't know about Mitsubishi though Shocked

Audi UK have done themselves no favours. I guess Audi HO will have something to say, maybe heads will roll. Neutral For a balanced view, however, Audi A1, A3, A4, A6, Q3, Q5 and Q7 have all been NCAP tested, all but Q7 scoring 5 stars or equivalent, depending on year test carried out. (Q7 was 4 star) Why anyone should want a plug ugly Q7 is beyond me! 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)
