Auto Lights Sensor

I did a search, not helpful but someone might point me in the right direction.

The auto light sensor on my car seems to want to turn my lights on even when it's fairly bright.

Where is the sensor? Can I clean it? Can I reset it? Do I need a new one?

Thanks.

RR

I had the same problem last year around this time, mentioned it at the 1st service and the dealer changed a control unit (i think) that sorted it till about 2 weeks ago now it's started doing it again!!

another item to add to the list next time it goes in for service.... along with the parking sensor continues tone.

Funny that - mine is doing exactly the same for the third autumn/winter running. Started again about 2 weeks ago!
Not all that bothered considering there are so many other cars now running with daytime driving lights on.

My previous car was a Tangiers Orange (G4) Discovery II; in 20 (30k miles) months of owning my Stornoway Grey FL2, I have been run into twice (not in the dark!). I am therefore happy that the lights are a bit prone to early lighting and slow to switch off as I am less of a "stealth" car like that.

Let 'em do what they want! Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red
Gone... 2008 (09MY) XS Td4 Manual Stornaway Grey
Prior... 2003 G4 Discovery 2, 1998 Disco 1 and 1997 Disco 1 Company car before that
Also gone in Nov'13, after 7.5 yrs, to new owners with time for more TLC - 1980 Series III 88
Current 2015 Discovery Sport HSE 2.0

Auto lights depend upon light level and light angle, if the sun is low (i.e. in winter) the lights will come on to improve visibility to other drivers even if the ambient light levels are relatively good.... clever LR Cool

Mine seem to be confused by daytime fog as I often have to switch the lights on then but like the rest of you they seem to on all time in these winter days, sunny or not. Ralph
