A recent report states that 2009 Land Rover sales are down 50% compared to the same period in 2008.

In 2009 new registered LR's totalled only 0.1% of the Norwegian new car market. Exact figures are not quoted, but even Jeep seems to have done better than LR again this year.

Are there any similar sales figures available for other parts of the world

For the period 08/08>08/09 all manufacturers are down in CH with the exceptions of Dacia, Subaru and Skoda.

LR/Jaguar were however not the worst performers and many including Jeep, Nissan, Mitsubushi, Honda, Suzuki, Lancia, and a host of Americans bombed.

Post 08/09 I've seen press reports that the LR/J brands have seen a significant bounce in their sales figures in CH, USA and GB.

If there's no distributor in Norway it is hardly surprising that sales are dreadful.

Early in 2009 the Dutch LR distributor went bust so the position there is a bit grim. The official Receivers sold off a large stock of vehicles which found their way onto mainly the German market at very low prices. Some reached CH, and model year '09 vehicles were on offer at a 28>34% discount! That did not do the "official imported" sales figures any good at all.

Sorry - I forgot to mention, but: the BMW X3 & X5 sales figures for CH got so bad that in an attempt to revive them they are on offer at advertised discount prices (previously unheard of here) plus a full 10yr warranty, free servicing and European wide roadside assistance etc... Times are grim for the Bavarian who seeks to go off road.

I could have mentioned as you have which makes have done better than others here, but it seemed a bit irrelevant as the published info I referred to only included manufacturers and not model names.

The LR importer/distributor for Norway is a Danish LR distributor, who has taken over from Volvo, Norway. Service is still carried out by the Volvo/Ford/Renault stealer as it has been earlier, but I wonder for how long
