Spring clear out

Do other people accumulate stuff that they never use, don’t need, or it never sees the light of day. Like stuff that belonged to your parents that not got rid of but never gets used, tins of half used paint just in case. I wish I was more ruthless and got rid of more stuff, even better never got it in the first place.

As a 30+ year Land Rover owner, I've hoarded lots of stuff over the years "just incase". However, you can always guarantee, within weeks of a purge, you desperately need a certain part you held on to for donkey's years !
However, way back in the early 90's, I was really in to Airportables (Lightweights to the layman), but as there was no internet back then, you could only rely on small ads in local rags. So when something like an early 2A front end came up for sale and knowing how rare they were , even back then, I would always do my best to secure such items.
I still lived at home with my parents back then. I'd been on holiday and on my return the first thing my father said was, "Oh, I managed to get rid of all your scrap while you were away!" with a proud look on his face, expecting me to be ever so grateful . I ran down the garden, only to find EVERYTHING gone !. All the rarest of the rare stuff, even stuff in original Military crates or boxes. New, used, EVERYTHING !
I never did receive an apology. In an effort to cover himself for such a monumental screw up , Dad just said "Well, it made the back garden look like a breakers yard !
Took me a while to let it go..........a couple of grand's worth of rare and hard to get parts gone , just like that. The scrap man must've thought it was Christmas. But what really hurt was knowing that to him it was literally just scrap metal worth scrap value. Probably got £30 out of it all at most for weighing it in Censored
