Mud Flaps advise please.

Living in, North Norfolk is like living in the middle of a ploughed field, so I'm thinking about fitting mud flaps.
I would welcome any advise on the best ones to get or should I not bother?

Mud flaps don't make much difference to dirt, but will reduce rain water from washing off winter salt, which is a benefit if you don't wash it off yourself in spring. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

I've just fitted pattern part copies of the OEM ones. Really pleased, they keep the big clumps of mud off the sides, but as above don't make much difference to the lighter spray/road grime.
For what its worth I think the car looks better and more finished with them fitted so its a double win for me.

I had the copies originally, they broke within about 2 years. Then bought the originals, actually 2 sets just in case and also partly due to freight cost to Australia. They have lasted.

When cleaning the wheel arches also stick the end of the hose up over the plastic wheel arch liner, without a nozzle is easier. Amazing the crap that gets washed out. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

^^This is a very good point, something for me to consider. I do try to wash her weekly during winter but sometimes it's double digit subzero.

Wouldn't be without mudflaps. I think they make a big difference. [/url] Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I had the manufacturers mudflaps put on when I bought the car new and I'm happy to advise you regarding my experience. My advice is that they help to keep the car a bit cleaner during wet and muddy conditions.

Sugar beet must be finished now so you’ll be ok for another 6 to 8 months. 👍

I always thought that mudflaps were worth fitting as they help stop grit and stones from flying upwards against the paintwork of my car and others.

Also it helps cut down the 'free' rain-spray to those following, helping visability.

On the subject of seeing on a wet day when passing lorries, I am very thankful for the high FL2 driving position as it allows me to see over the spray. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
