It should be CHF202 specifation do nit mix as they may react with each other. |

As it meets CHF202 spec it would be fine but personally, as you say the colour is now a dirty colour, I would do a fluid flush & renew it all. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Yes but at least it’s been changed at least once in 8 years . Some on here have gone for 10 - 12 years before changing 😀 |

Do you know if the reservois has ever been changed? They have a filter built into it which unfortunately you can't really see unless you cut the reservoir open.

Smith & Allan do CHF202 at approx £7/L but smallest amount is 5L (+ P&P)

Yes. But I changed the PS pump instead; probably lucky I didn't have to do the rack too. I'd recommend regular fluid replacement, and replace the res at the same time since it has a built-in filter. Honestly even if you can't bother with the fluid change, you'd still be better off replacing the res. Generally I avoid mixing fluid brands if practical. If it has the same industry spec, it should be good until the next fluid change. "Universal" fluids are safe only for emergency use, I'd flush that stuff out asap. Universal fluids will typically perform the desired function, but there may be long-term chemistry consequences (corrosion, soft seal damage, interaction with original fluid). |

Jules, I found 2 litres was more than enough when doing a pump & reservoir change, with some to spare. It really depends how careful you are in the process. 3 litres would keep you going for years! Got some Fuchs titan stuff . It’s green Will check compatibility first since don’t know what’s in it already after change a few years ago. If I did a full flush and change I’d break something…. I always do ! |

Good video on changing the resvoir on the Russian site follow it but also remove drivers headlight allows access to the pipe connections only used 1 litre of fluid |
