New Freelander - Diesel After Petrol

So after 12 years of having my 3.2 petrol I am looking to get a newer one.

I am seeing a 2014 2.2 TD4 Diesel on Saturday.

Has anyone gone from petrol to diesel?

Am I making a mistake?

What does the forum think please?

Thank you

Try a SD4 HSE LUX or METRO before you buy. Its the best Engine/Transmission combination.

Note apart from having most extras from factory, they have much better headlights.

Make sure you can drive the diesel where you want too. Some aren't suitable for low emissions zones, but the i6 could well be. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

The Metro SD4 Auto wins.

The Dealer Website says 12 months Warranty, so as long as its got a good service history, and drives well, go for it.

Pity it hasn't got tinted windows or spoiler, but it does have a full size Spare Wheel.

There seems to be plenty of other METROs and HSE LUX out there, so don't rush in, some have ALL the KIT, and/or look better.

Each one of those linked to seem a bit step in price for a 10year old car, maybe £4000 to much or is it just me that thinks this ?

It would seem that low mileage, late model FL2, are sold at this sort of premium.

Autotrader estimate my own car at £14k private sale, and £12k part exchange, so Dealer with Warranty at £17k doesn't seem an excessive mark-up.

PS Mine might be a bargain at that price, it has full LR service history and a transferrable LR Extended Warranty.
PPS NO it is not up for sale, its too nice to drive. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

WBAC offered £12765 for my 2014 SE Tech with 64K miles. I usually regard WBAC as the bottom price.
I wasn't selling just curious.
It was a 4 month old ex-demo when I bought it with 5200 miles. So that works out at a depreciation of £14930 over 8 years - not adjusted for inflation though. Jules

Like someone already said, if you live inside any of the London boroughs and if citizen khan gets his way in August you will have a car that will cost you £12.50 a day use. the only way around it is if you are disabled and the car is taxed as disabled. You'll then have until 2027 until it falls foul of the ULEZ charge. 2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep
2013 SD4 HSE The posh one for towing the caravan
