Wales 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Sumatra Black
could this be power steering pump failure ,hot inner wing ??

any ideas ...... exessively hot inner wing around off side headlamp cant touch .!!!

Now seems to be power steering problem resevoir gets hot after aprox 20 mile roundtrip and inner wing getting hot
could it be power treering pump failure starting ????? no undue noises Wales
Were the mud is thicker, and the ruts are deeper.
(And we have the water to wash it off, and more on the way..! )

Have you looked down inside bonnet. From what I remember there are several pipes and joints in that area. Is one pipe/joint spraying something out onto inner surface? FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Check all your coolant, oil, levels. - Radiator Expansion Tank and various pipes to and from Front Radiator's are in the area.
Check heating/cooling work and engine temperature on test run.
Is there any loss of performance or noise when accelerating.

LATER NOTE
I have just checked my FL2 after a (very) short run.
Slight warmth blown out at bonnet join.
Checked inside - Header Tank is moderately warm, but underlying pipe work cold or only luke-warm.
Steering Fluid Container warm.
No excessive heat. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 76k+ miles) (MY2015)
