FL2 MY2010 TD4 Auto. 102,000 miles. If left for a couple or so days, the engine starts willingly but after being driven out of my driveway it dies after less than 1/4 mile. Typical symptoms of running out of fuel. “Chug, chug,chug, stop” Just been serviced & MOT inc fuel filter, done by Duckworths. No fault codes apparently. It was doing it before the service but I thought the filter change would sort it. Can eventually be started again after several cranks, then runs fine all day. No symptoms if used daily.
Any thoughts? ?Possible air leak in fuel feed? Fuel tank transfer pump intermittent?

Booked in for diagnosis & fix 12th January - unless you guys have any bright ideas.

Definitely sounds like an air leak in the fuel supply system. Would hope Duckworths used only genuine fuel filter? Possibly the o rings on the push fit connectors to the fuel filter. That would be my first check, cheap to try as well. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Thanks for reply. Duckworths always use genuine parts, in fact I bought them from Duckworth Parts prior to the service using forum discount They want to do a full code check but I don’t think this sort of fault will show up on a code read?

I checked the parts list using the unofficial .ru links. It seems the fuel pipes although individually identified, use special "push fit" self seal fittings each end so no replacement "O" ring seals are listed. Could be a long and expensive diagnostic trail replacing each pipe (££) in turn!

Do you see any bubbles in the clear fuel line going to the pump from the filter?
Mine has bubbles, and an occasional misfire when I plant the throttle.
I've a non genuine filter on mine at the moment, but will be fitting a Perflux filter this week, to see if it makes a difference. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

No bubbles as far as I am aware.

Car has now been with Duckworth's since 12th Jan. So far a code read confirmed low fuel pressure incidents (surprise surprise!) but cannot reproduce the fault so far. Have loaned me an Evoque R Dynamic Hybrid until it's fixed

Think yourself lucky.
My car has been in a garage (Landrover Specialists) four weeks with a fault with no codes.
No codes, computer says no, mechanic says don't know.

Hope you do better than me.  Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.

I wonder if yours and gasman's problems with fuelling are related.

As above wonder if its the regulator O-ring anyone know of the repair kits for the FL2 2.2 TD4 HPFP kits available ?

Problem now fixed. Initially NFF, so arranged to collect it & possibly get it recovered if the fault reoccurred. On collection, the car was delivered to the showroom door by the service receptionist & handed me the keys. Once I got in & inserted the key fob, "engine fault" came up! Started it and the amber engine symbol illuminated. Left it running & called the technician. He connected his OBD2 reader, no code, cleared the fault several times, now "OK". I left to take it home. Half a mile or so later it started hesitating & "kangarooing", so I pulled in to a side road to return to the garage. After a while I got the previous symptom of failing to respond to throtttle movement, yet revved ok when out of gear. Eventually I got it back to Duckworths where I left it and took another loaner (300 mile Qashqai) to get home. Next day they rang and told me both the EGR and Oxy (Lambda) were putting up codes & quoted ££££ to fix with new EGR & Oxy sensor plus labour. With few options I told them to go ahead & fix it. Collected it two days later, now all OK. Cost reduced to £835
