SatNav Map upgrade dilema

Hi All, I'm new to the group and need advice please.
It's my Freelander 2 2013, HSE LUX. S4FU2F Variant, D5H2 Version

I've just purchased a map upgrade CD expecting to find a DVD player under the driver's seat. Low and behold, No DVD player! So I've been trawling the Web and found that some of the upgrades are done via USB. So I copied the DVD onto a memory stick and inserted that... Nothing... More searching, then I find the LandRover site which quotes removing the SD Card. Where is that located? I've searched the entire cabin and can't find any trace of a SD Slot.

Unless I'm barking up the wrong tree entirely. Can anybody help please? I do know that the unit is original LR and not an aftermarket version.

If it helps, underneath the screen, there is a blank panel where the coin tray was on previous versions.

Mines a 63 plate and I bought the USB which is uploaded in the centre console; it came with a 'security code' which I had to input, perhaps that's still needed so generating your own USB won't work? Sorry, I'm not technically aware enough to offer another explanation, there'll be others on here who are though.
Could you send the disc back and swap, out for the USB?

Doesn't worth to upgrade if you don't have the Satnav module under the front seat (passenger seat, left hand driver, here).

You can see some about it here: https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic35932.html

The module is easily purchasable but I'm not sure how easy it is to "retrofit" in the EUR version of the car.

Vanny might have updates on that. Freelander 2 2014 SD4 Automatic HSE Fuji White

Thanks Sid, I may have to ask the supplier if they will swap it. Where did you get yours from?

I recently updated my MY13 with a usb purchased from eBay for £80 seems to work fine other than taking the best part of 3 hours to update!

If you have a MY13 vehicle it will be the Gen2.1 system which uses a USB based upgrade not the DVD based system. MY13 HSE Lux Santorini Black

Hi, thanks for the link.

I saw that one earlier on but I was put off because it quotes "Gen 2.1 InControl Touch". My LR2 does not have "InControl Touch" (according to the LandRover web site...) But, if yours worked, I may give it a try.

To those who have upgraded, is it worth the £100?

I hope this photo clears up a lot of mythical preconceptions!

Gen2.1 is the same as “InControl touch” (purely marketing by JLR) but “Pro” was different.

You can update via USB (centre console) or Disc (right in front of you)! MY15
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
Surround Camera System
InControl Apps soon to be replaced with CarPlay (WIP)
Meridian Premium Surround Sound
Digital Audio Broadcast
Timed Climate
Cruise ECO Data

Picture In Motion
4x4i screen (WIP)
Digital Broadcast TV
Meridian Rear Media with WIFI
Factory Powered Tailgate
Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)
Reverse Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
Electrochromatic Wing Mirrors (WIP)

That’s interesting since I was told the only upgrade for my 63 plate was via the USB - disc would have been easier

I have not come across anyone who sells this on disc only as a USB - that includes the company who creates this for LR.

Europe, SA and Middle East are all USB, I suppose that some smaller regions could be available on DVD. MY13 HSE Lux Santorini Black

Asking out of ignorance...what's the point of upgrading?
From my experience with a much loved 2012 system, and extensively used throughout Europe, I find that any new highway or modifications which obviously are not within the data don't cause any problems. Using a new motorway for example, "Vera" quickly modifies the guidance until back onto a listed road. Similarly, "Vera" often is unaware of new roundabouts but with common sense I just follow the original sign posts.
