Looking to get a new cordless impact wrench with enough torque to tackle all the jobs on the Freelander 2 such as hub nuts at 330nm etc; the one I was thinking of is a Dewalt Dcf899n-XR,( https://products.dewalt.co.uk/powertools/p...o/DCF899N/ ) I already have spare batteries and charger that will fit this model. Does anyone have any experiance of this particular impact wrench or any other recommendations.

I have a ryobi gets used almost daily, yesterday walloped some big bolts into a tractor using a 30mm socket, then tried with a manual bar and it wouldnt tighten further.

but as you have the batteries stick with dewalt I guess, be sure to get the correct impact sockets, standard sockets wont stand the impact drive At work

Not quite the same thing, but I recently bought these as a set in a box with charger and a few bits.

Importantly, they are modern brushless motors, and are very handy for DIY jobs.

I use a 3/4 inch T handle, enough leverage & easy to spin the nut on or off.

That's a real beast Lightwater. I can see the need for something like that when you out and about on your travels.

Guys, how many times in your life you've changed a tire? More than 10 times?
So what's the point of such a tool when it will be used only a few times?
Or the saying "The men are just children with more expensive toys" applies?

In 2018 in the outback we destroyed 1 tyre & had 3 more punctures. Four times taking wheels on & off. The easiest part of the process is the removal & replacement of nuts, a T handle is brilliant for this. Don't have the room for an impact wrench anyway. Even my compressors don't have enough capacity with an air wrench without being patient!

I would suggest you have a better feel for tightening up nuts to about the correct amount doing it by hand.

Yes, I have that very same DeWalt and it is superb! Like you I already had the batteries so I got the bare unit. Only 2.0Ah batteries, but they last long enough for DIY.

It removed the crank shaft nut on my FL2 in a few of seconds. Also great on caravan hub nuts (280NM). More than powerful enough.

The dewalt one is a beast, just be careful with smaller threaded bolts. GS Sd4 2012
