There’s not much in the way of hard evidence there and this kind of media speculation can’t be helpful.

It’s been spoken about for a few weeks, but TATA ain’t selling and PSA ain’t making an offer

In a statement to Autocar India, Tata Motors said that Jaguar Land Rover was not for sale. A spokesperson said: “There is no truth to the rumours that Tata Motors is looking to divest its stake in JLR.” [i[/i] 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Well, the 2.2 diesel is a Peugeot design so it must be true...... Incidentally just returned from a long weekend in France and was surprised how many Evoques were on the road. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

It would not be a bad thing if PSA group did get there hands on JLR as TATA have let the quality hit rock bottom with the Discovery sport Idea

I’ve owned plenty of Peugeot’s, several Citroen’s and lots of Land Rovers and for quality, reliability and back up, I’d take something from JLR every time. In the event that this were anything more than mischief making to sell a local rag, I’d say that Peugeot Citroen could learn a lot from JLR Thumbs Up

Last time I changed my FL2, the sales guy was a young guy who admitted that he didn't know much about the car as he had just transferred from a Peugeot dealership within the same group. This was OK and we just went for a drive as I clearly knew more about the car than he did. He said that the LR dealership was totally different culture and he had been warned not to push the sale along like he had been told to at the Peugeot dealership. He had been told that if the customer wants a 4x4 then LR is the market leader and that's it and let the product sell itself, when you are selling Pug 208s or small city cars then there really is a lot of choice and you have to push hard to win the sale. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

I don’t suppose this carries much weight to counter the gossip, but let’s give it a go:

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.indepen...html%3famp

“Tata denied the report, stating: “As a matter of policy we do not comment on media speculation, but we can confirm there is no truth to these rumours.” ”

He’s got a bit of a point though. Take something like the previous model Disco, or the FL2. If you wanted one, you wanted one and everything else was just irrelevant.

Take a Peugeot 208 and there are any number of generic cars that will do the job just as well, many for less. Although, with the current range that differentiation has, to a large extent, gone. For instance, a colleague has just parted with his DS for a Q5; it should feel like getting into an upscaled Golf after getting out of a LR product, but he prefers it and I can see why. The Q5 probably makes a better job of being a tall road car than the, relatively ordinary, DS does.
