I’ve got a new car, well not quite but.....

Having driven our “new” FL2 home (300 miles) a few weeks ago now and listening to the droning/groaning from the rear I thought “oh well it might need a new diff bearing or something, no worry”........took it to get oils (engine and trans) changed last week and asked them to listen to the diff, wheel bearings, prop bearing and whatever while they had it on the wheels free.

Upon collection I was told the diff was silent Thumbs Up , bearings seem fine Thumbs Up , and nothing underneath showed anything untoward Thumbs Up .

But still the rumbling/groaning started at around 40, got worse at 50 and almost unbearable by 70......only thing that was left were the tyres, Pirelli Verde on the front (pretty good condition half worn) and Goodyear Wrangler on the rear ( 3/4 worn but with an odd wear pattern it appeared).....so today a new set of Michelin Latitude Cross was fitted (£50 cash back for a full set from Michelin at the moment).

Driving home along dual carriageway and fast A roads......absolutely silent.....wooohoo Bow down it is like a new car!

Talk about sensitive to tyre wear, worth remembering. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

not the least bit surprised, I can tell if I have my winter tyres or normal ones on just by the noise. Common sense isn't very common.

Odd thing is the new tyres are a lot “chunkier” than the old tyres,

I reckon the rear Goodyears were more 50p than round! Regards
