Not sure what Jeep has to do with this but to put the record straight the automotive brand with one of the most impressive sales performance in 2018 was almost certainly Jeep. Jeep set several sales records last year, with strong showings from its Wrangler and Cherokee models. In the end, Jeep finished the year with a sales growth of 17 percent.

During 2018, Jeep sold a total of 973,227 vehicles in the U.S alone That surpasses its previous yearly sales record of 926,376 vehicles during 2016. In December alone, Jeep sold a total of 80,449 vehicles. This represents a 10 percent sales increase when compared to Jeep’s sales performance

From a few hundred thousand units a year (338,000 in 2009) to several years of record sales, passing the million-vehicle mark each of the past four years globally.

Jaguar Land Rover retail sales in 2018 totalled 592,708 vehicles, (LR 411875 Jaguar 180833) down 4.6% compared to 2017

Their sales were down again, 4.2% over here though.

Jeep sold less than 500 units in January compare that to Land Rover selling more than 5000 in the same month in the UK alone. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

It's all a volume of scale in 2018 FCA sold 4,838,246 8th largest motor manufacture worldwide TATA Motors sold 824,838 21st largest motor manufacture. You need about 5 million plus sales to get real benefits of scale.

The top 10 were

1 VW 10.6 million
2 Toyota 10.3 million
3 Renault/Nissan 10.2 million
4 GM. 9.9 million
5 Hyundai/Kia. 7.3 million
6 Ford. 6.2 million
7 Honda. 5.2 million
8 FCA. 4.8 million
9 PSA. 4.2 million
10 Suzuki. 3.1 million

21 TATA Motors. 0.8 million

That's the whole point you need volume of scale for R&D, platform sharing across brands and models etc; JLR need to have a joint venture with one on the big players. It's all about return on capital.

Anyway as you say enough.
