Toyota and BMW warn no-deal Brexit could hit UK investment

The news just keeps coming in on the price we will pay if the extreme Brexit MPs get their way.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-47457219

Surely they can't all be wrong. The time has come to start listening, and stop shifting the blame onto the messengers.

Although, alas, it may be too late, we may have got too near the cliff edge to go back without damage.

We need proven trading partners, and tariff free borders, not some 'pie in the sky' dream. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

It's called "burying bad news" to justify poor management. Keeps the shareholders happy short-term.

When they ship Mini production in its entirety over to Austria factory, management will still blame Brexit. Even though that's been their long-ball game since they acquired the Brand.

It looks although BMW are genuinely preparing for tariffs and customs hold ups as they are spending money in Britain as well.

We would need to make some adjustments toward Steyr. We are preparing to be able to do it. Like we are preparing warehouses in the UK to produce cars,” Peter Shwarzenbauer told Reuters at the Geneva car show.

I am sure that you are right about the down turn in the world economy and pro-electrification laws are causing a lot of the problems, but surely these changes since the Brexit referendum mean we should re-examine the decision in the present conditions. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

England

Equity Relaese has been around for years, very much a buyer beware scheme, for some it may work but the interest rates are about 2% above the average mortgage rate and if you don't do any pay back then your house is basically a zero asset to your family ( depending on the amount borrowed).
You are far better off taking out a longish term mortgage invest some of it in a highish interest share based ISA which will pay some of the repayments on average years. ( not all years).
I doubt it is a Tory scheme most ex senior politicians are involved in these companies as directors as well as trade unions investing their funds in them, ( with low membership they need any money to pay the large union official salaries) my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

The entire saga is largely of her own making. I have never advocated civil disobedience in my life, however I hope that there is plenty over the coming weeks.

Interestingly, I note that arch-Traitor Dominic Grieve lost a vote not to deselect him last night, and I believe that this is just the tip of the iceberg - they ALL deserve to lose their jobs over this, every last treacherous one of them.

quite right. They were elected to 'serve the people' and the people voted.

now if an MP has a different view, then that is his quandary, does he do the job he was voted in to do ? or does he resign/abstain. If he/she follows their OWN view then they should stand down or be sacked. Business is Business.

If a major CEO acted like the MPs have in the commons, the board would vote him/her OFF !!!

Next election ........... remember what your MP did OR not did for you.
I can see any ..... next general election being the biggest shake up for 100's years, and it should be as their are TOO MANY career politicians.

Here endeth my rant.

I think No Deal should be back on the table. We have been brainwashed into believing it would be disastrous with all sorts of dire warnings. It is called THE ILLUSION OF TRUTH. The following quote comes from the arch propagandist Joseph Goebbels. (Mind it could have been Alistair Campbell)

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

And there was me imagining that David Cameron stood on an election manifesto pledge back in 2015 to offer "a democratic, legally binding referendum, by the British people on the future membership of the EU."

Not some half-baked remoaner "non-binding/advisory/in name only" tripe that they have suddenly started spouting, now that they know that the game is up.
