United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Barolo Black
Oil cooler

Morning boys and girls.
Has anyone on here tackled changing an oil cooler.
I have looked at the Haynes manual and it claims the air con compressor, throttle body and god knows what else has to come off get to the oil cooler, if thats the case it looks like taking the radiators out to gain access would be easier.
Anyone found any short cuts that the manual dont know about.
Cheers.

Pages 872-3 in the LR manual (search for link to free download) cover oil cooler removal and also says remove AC compressor, throttle body and disconnect engine oil pressure sensor. Jules

Indeed, it's easy that way. But a little more work to do, although not so difficult.
You need to take the bumper off, take off the intercooler, carefully set aside the AC radiator, if you don't want to empty the AC system, drain the coolant and take off the engine cooler.
Then you'll see something like this:

Not sure I want to be doing that on the drive, think I will get it booked in somewhere.
Cheers for the input chaps.
