Hi Jannette, from the little information on your post it does sound an unlikely tale.

it would help if you could give more details of the car eg age, mileage, symptoms of the faulty four wheel drive, etc.

and also expand on the repair eg what plugs were cleaned, etc

Iain

Hi Ian thanks for your help it’s a 20011 reg and 65000 on the clock , the guy at the garage just said he’d taken the plugs off and cleaned them up and it’s now working , on the screen it came up with traction faulty , but he says it’s now working , but I can only think that this will be for a short time , he also said it’s a problem with this freelander as were the plugs are they get dirty

With respect, your description is too vague for forum members to be able to offer much in the way of specific advice.

IMO you need to find an Independent Landrover specialist as what your garage has told you doesnt make much sense to me. Jules

The Freelander 2 is a front wheel drive vehicle by default. When the 4 wheel drive system operates only then are the rear wheels driven. Jules

We just need to work out what plugs had been cleaned
Can you get onto some wet grass and floor it with someone looking to see what's happening

Yeah, could be the 2 Haldex module connectors:

I think they are loom to module and module to pump. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

Some light reading on interesting facts.
https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic22522.ht...ldex+4+fl2

On this thread there is an explanation of the Haldex system
https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic10379.ht...ldex+4+fl2

But basically you have a Haldex 4 system which sends torque to the rear axle when you start off' (up to about 19mph) and then when ever the car detects wheel slip. Otherwise the FL2 is front wheel drive.

Any faults almost always log a code that can be read by a garage. You need to get your fault codes read.

And an explanation of how the system works (on a Tiguan)

Probably the most sensible post Larger Ed has made on this forum, Rolling Eyes so firstly just check your FL2 isn't of the 2wd variant.

Wink FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

This is the bit I don't understand. Surely the default if no Haldex clutch is 2 wheel front drive. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
