Wipers - Winter Park Position and the MOT

Well the old girl passed another MOT without problem EXCEPT
Examiner raised a "minor fault" needing immediate repair warning for "Wipers obstructing part of swept area"

I have objected and await outcome as the wipers were parked in accordance with Land Rover "Winter Park" setting as accessed through the dash menus.

Seems wrong to me that abiding by mfr's instruction costs a potential MOT fail Shocked

So be warned do not use "winter park" if you are going for an MOT No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

Thought the winter park stayed on unless you turned it off, and whilst the box is ticked on the dash the wipers are permanently in the 'winter' position ?
Or if you tick the box, do the wipers react to the stalk position or driving away (like the auto locking) ? Question

A chap was telling me today how his windscreen wiper "exploded" into lots of plastic bits as he started his car. The wipers had been left ON and had frozen to the windsceen. The wiper arm ripped itself out of the blade as he started the car.

So despite being at bit of a pain to set and unset, the Winter Park option could save you some £s and a lot of inconvenience. Jules

I leave mine set all throughout winter. I don’t know if this causes any more stress on the wiper arms / motor ? MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

They do block your vision a bit if you're on the short side like my better half. But in that position the electric windscreen (if youve got one) can quickly thaw the wiper blades. Jules

'Minor fault' on the MOT is more or less the equivalent of an 'advisory' before it was all changed recently. Tester was just being a box filling cock to look good on his monthly stats. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Winter wiper park is only in junction if you have a heated screen fitted. Not sure if you can amend the CCF files to have winter wiper park with a normal screen plus it would be pointless as the Freelander doesnt really warm up much when idlying from cold. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior
