P006A

Hello all,

Hoping somebody can help me out.

I have a 2013 FL2, Diesel 2.2. I know barely anything so bare with me.

I was driving yesterday, came up to a roundabout and stopped, when I went to pull off again an error message appeared as 'restricted performance' which result in the turbo unresponsive and effectively going into limp mode. There is a noise when I accelerate past 1200RPM which sound like air escaping and it gets louder as the RPM increases.

I originally increase to 2000RPM and turbo still works but then cuts dead as soon as I hit it.

Today I had a friend plug his diagnostic tool in it and came up with the error code P006A which is mass air-flow etc.

I am more inclined to think it is a split hose rather than a sensor problem due to the noise it is making and how it increases as the RPM increase hense the pressure. Although, as I have said I am no expert.

Has anyone got any more useful information on this to help me out a bit please?

Lots of case of split turbo hoses. I would try that line of attack first. Doing a search should find other postings on this. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Mines a MY13 and the short pipe to Intercooler split last year at circa 48000. LR002589

Rather than take the risk, I replaced the entire unit, that's both pipes and the plastic bit underneath. No problems since.

Thanks for the replies. It has done just over 100k miles. Does anybody think it will still be okay to drive slowly for this current week as I can only get it into the garage next week?

More than likely the short hose attached to the throttle valve, fairly central behind the cooling fans. You could try cleaning any oily residue off it & wrapping it with duct tape to tide you over. It will get worse fairly quickly if you just leave it.

Cheers,

Good evening, the dtc P006A is actually a correlation of flow on the air intake circuit.
The MAF sensor records the airflow of the air filter and the sensor which is near the throttle body gives the information to the management of the engine which has passed through it, when there is too much difference between these two sensors, the PCM goes into degraded mode and in most cases sends an alert message to the driver.
It is therefore necessary to search the air circuit from which the leak occurs. In most cases it is the reference hose: LR002589 as already mentioned in the other post.
It is possible but still very rare that this is the Intercooler reference: LR000926.
Sorry for the translation, I'm french and go through Google translation.

Hi wil34. Just noticed you location.
Spent Christmas with my son and his family in Montpellier. Didn't see any FL2s at all during the week. Went to Spain (Roses), one day and saw just one FL1. Not much of a market? Guess most seem to go for smaller city type cars.

Hello Kage, indeed the freelander 2 has a less urban use by us, for the city there is much more evoque or discovery sport.
After I do not know in your country, but in France JLR brands are bought by a certain part of the population, because of its high coup d'etats and repairs compared to other brands "cheaper" we say.

After my explanations on the dtc P006A, could enlighten some of you I am delighted.
I happen to come from time to time on this forum, because modification level we find a lot of super interesting thing that there is not in France.
It's like that elsewhere that I could edit my free 2 premium audio, a real treat.
