I'm considering a purchase of a secondhand Freelander 2 and with my search parameters set to largely only include the price and 'Sat Nav' I have found a couple of ads that got me thinking. I appreciate one is a manual and one is an auto.

Thoughts welcomed, as to which is 'better' or otherwise.......newer auto with much higher milage or older manual with much less milage ?

A) 2011 2.2 XS manual - 59K miles for £11,000 (Trade seller)

And generally is 110K miles thought of as 'High milage' ?

High Mileage/less years every time. Especially in your choices; Auto beats manual; SD4 beats the XS. Only downside is 19" wheels not as comfy as 17/18". However, the high mileage is probably all motorway running at optimum temperature. Relative low stopping and starting, less braking. The low mileage option will probably need some replacements age related rather than mileage related.
During my self-employed construction career, I always bought high mileage secondhand reps cars for myself. And more recently had a Range Rover bought with 80,000 miles and kept it for 11 years to 350,000 miles.
My message; don't be frightened of high mileage.

+2 , don't let the high mileage put you of if there's a FSH present . For me it would be an SD4 everytime over a TD4 .

Not yet - but certainly will do.

A good garmin windscreen mounted Sat nav is probably better and certainly cheaper than map updates for an old outdated built in version. Don't let that requirement limit your choice. I much prefer my garmin in the landrover over the factory fitted version in my wife's VW. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I much prefer 13my+ over any other FL2 so for me it would have to be the 14my with high miles.

13MY On with lowest miles and forget Sat Nav as a must. Winter pack is more usefull. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

The only downside of the 110,000 mile car is that if you want to buy an extended warranty, your options are (with little good reason) very poor if the car has more than 100,000 miles on it

always drive high mileage cars personally.

If I could afford it I would chase this one as I love the seats

The 2014 any day. It is a different beast. The extra miles are probably highway. I was always a manual driver, wipe a manual off the list. More so if you are towing or caravaning. In the land of the outback & offroad & massive caravans only the uninformed are driving manuals! Look up the auto transmission on the Freelander, they are auto lock up while cruising, not the old slush boxes of a by gone era! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

See I wouldn't touch either.
Go for a 2008 model, 100K is nothing mileage wise - 200k+ is expected.

But you live in London, so short journeys, in a diesel with a DPF !!
Definitely the auto with London traffic

Go for HSE, you will miss the toys on the lower spec - I replaced my HSE FL2 with a lower spec Evoque and hated every single minute in the miserable, ugly, evil tin can. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
