I would suggest it's highly likely that if you still have the Landrover branded (Excide ? mine is) battery still fitted it will be the original or a replacement one under warranty at some point in the past.

If you go to a decent Garage, i.e. not a fast fit place or Halfords, they will have a decent modern tester that will give a read out / print out of the batteries condition. Internal resistance , Life cycle % left, available CCA etc.

I bought a "Ring" diagnostic tester for about £100 a few years back and find it very useful, not only for cars but for the caravan leisure batteries and my motorbike. A decent modern multi stage charger/conditioner is also worth having. C Tek for instance. Thumbs Up 2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep

Its a 63 plate SD4HSE auto, without the stop-start feature

Batteries, like tyres, quite often have a 4 digit code on them. The first two digits are the week and the second two are the month. E.G. batteries produced this week will have the code ‘5218’ on them. Of course, they could have been sitting about for some time before being used. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

My vehicle (a stop start 'e' variant) is on its second battery in nearly 10 years [09 plate]

I left my vehicle for 8 days, got up this morning, expecting 'a problem'. The key fob opened the doors, inserted the fob, pressed the 'start' button and it burst into life !!

What more do you want Very Happy

Mine is well on its way to battery Valhalla... getting the 'three minutes to self destruct - your crap car is about to spoil another day for you' warning quite frequently. Touch wood it hasn't completely given up yet.

When I am able to drag my body, raddled as it is with man flu with radiation sickness complications, from my sick bed I will get another. I had planned on a Varta Silver Dynamic 585 400 080 for under a hundred quid but Yuasa inform me that I have an AGM fitted at three - four times the price...

I can't physically check it right now but it's a MY13 (63) SD4 HSE Lux Auto with no stop start if anybody knows differently to Yuasa...

I'd do a bit more research if I were you, my car is almost the same as yours (just not a Lux model) and no stop / start fitted and is lead acid. when I was looking around, all the web sites came up with the cheaper lead acid option and stated for non stop / start models.

Best option for me was a Yuasa Silver with a 5 year guarantee from Halfords reduced to £92 using my Halfords trade card which knocks 20% off the retail price.

Just looked on the YUASA app on line and it's telling me my car (search by reg number) is fitted with Stop / Start and a AGM battery which is totally wrong Whistle 2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep

HappyNomad. Are you 100% sure it’s not stop start? I fitted a new battery on a customers KA once as it packed up and fitted an AGM one and the stop start worked - my supplier said it needed a stop start battery. The customer had had the car 2 years and the stop start had never worked - she didn’t even know it had it! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Wouldn't it have a disable switch for it if it was fitted, my mates RR Sport has and my Tiguan had one as well Question 2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep

My FL was new in March 2011. It still has an LR branded battery that I assume is original. The stop start doesn't work any more but other than that it is fine. I only use it at weekends and so far haven't had any problems.
…… So, I'll be needing a new battery soon

I am as sure as I can be given that it has never happened, no switch etc. When I can drag my bones out to the car again, I will of course check the existing battery and replace like for like.

Thank for the thought though....

Aren't these the usual signs of man-flu?

Your car being an auto won't have stop start fitted.
I'm on my second FL Auto - no stop start on either.
You won't have an AGM battery fitted.

I agree with Aveling. LR only did start/stop on manual FL2's. Your car is a SD4 and SD4's were only sold with automatic transmission. So I'm pretty sure your car doesn't have start/stop.

is there any logic to make you think if you pick a new battery with the longest guarantee on it, it may last longer than a battery with a lesser guarantee ? Whistle Rolling with laughter

I've had my HSE for 2 years now the lady before me had changed the battery a year earlier, so the battery is 3 years old, it was fitted for her by the RAC and is branded as an RAC battery with a 5 year guarantee, hoping it lasts longer than 5 years and 3 days Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -
