Creaking Tailgate?

Just wondering if anyone has had a creaking noise (seems to be coming from the left side) when closing the tailgate. Probably needs some lubrication, so just after tips as what to use and where please Question

I use a silicone spray on the chromed bit of the strut.

Me too... it is a quick, easy and cheap fix but not a hugely long term.

I must have used half a can of silicone spray on the tailgate hinges before I realised it was the struts making the creaking noise Censored Censored Censored

I will try the silicone spray on the struts and I have some lithium grease spray that I will use on the hinges and hopefully all will be quite again Smile 2014 Freelander 2 XS TD4

The studs at the body end of the struts were each about half a turn loose on my car and the creaking stopped when I tightened them up. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
