Clocks go back 1 hour tonight

Why do we still keep this outdated nonsense of changing the clocks twice a year. It was OK when it was first introduced but we live in a very different world now where there is no need to go through this unneccessary inconvenience twice a year. Just think how many clocks and devices with clocks in your house that have to be changed.

It's time to change - by not changing our clocks.

Most of the modern devices will have changed by themselves. My cameras have a setting that swaps from BST to GMT but most people don’t seem to bother based on the dates I see in the exif data of other people’s photos.
My experience is that the extra hour in the morning gives the roads and pavements chance to dry out or become less icy so I’ll go through the routine of changing microwave and cooker clocks. The biggest pain will be the antique mantle clock. I’ll have to stop it for an hour. The thing is how many of our electronic clocks, watches and devices will still be working in 100 years?

Daylight saving can affect your health — here's how: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-10-07/day...h/10344600

The good news is the increased risk of a heart attack only lasts two weeks. After that, our biological clock synchronises to the new time.

When it comes to the increased risk of heart attack, women are generally more sensitive to the spring transition to daylight saving time, while men are more sensitive to the autumn transition from daylight saving time. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

& it still works during a blackout & does not have to be reset. Technology hundreds of years ahead of its time! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Never looking forwards to this time of year, I have a collection of antique clocks Neutral
so I'll have to stop them all and start again,
also got a quartz clock in the kitchen and for some reason a couple of days after resetting it will have gained two minuets!!

I remember back in the late 60's when the government tried not changing the clocks back for three years. I was going to University in the dark before 9am, lots of mums complaining about kids travelling in the dark etc. I suppose these days the kids get taken to school so things might be different. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Unless you have a Brexit!

In Australia across the various states, some have daylight saving & some don't which I can understand as these states extend north of the tropic of Capricorn. But we end up with a dog's breakfast of time zones!

Add to that the differences with the 1/2 hour difference for South Australia & Northern Territory, which also extends into remote areas of neighbouring states. One example is Broken Hill in NSW is using South Australian time.

Some people live in one state & cross the boarder to work & arrive before they leave home!

Queenslanders also had a "reasonable" argument many years ago why they did not want daylight saving..... 'Their curtains would fade!'

Kunnunurra is so far east in Western Australia that they really should be on a different time zone, South Australia. But near Caigna in WA in the Great Australian Bight there is a 1/2 hour time zone shift. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

China has only 1 time zone - "Beijing time" - despite being over 3,000 miles from east to west.

They don't seem to have a problem with it.

Mind you, no-one would complain, would they!

You should try living in Northern Ireland where it is permanently 1958.

I once read an article about a couple of carpenters that were sent down to the south pole to do some work and due to bad weather they couldn't get out so found that they had to spend the winter there. For something to do they built a circular bar so that you could serve drinks at any time just by moving round the bar and standing in the right time zone. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
