what would you do ??

Its MOT time as of November 8th (to Dec 8th), the car is now 11½ years old with 161,984 on the old clock.
Major service just over a year ago, belts etc etc, seems I have only done 3,676 miles since then.

Can't help thinking should I either : - Question

1). get an A service and MOT Mr. Green

or

2). thinking that an A service maybe involves just checking things which the MOT tester does anyway (garage take car to tester), should I skip the service and just get an oil change ? Idea

or

3). due to low miles (yes I know its miles or time lapsed) skip the oil change as well for now . . . Mr. Green 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

to be honest id just have the MOT done.

under 4k miles on new oil isn't much so you could easily stretch that out to 6k miles which Is more usual IMO

Get a Mot, not bother with a service, find a fast woman with the money you saved and see if anything pops up. Shocked FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Id have an oil change at the very least, and the MOT

Oil degrades over time, as well as miles/use...

Different specification of oils

And I certainly wouldn't be leaving it 2 years Shocked

At Audi servicing prices my wifes low miles car is on 2 years but as I had the odd few litres of Merc oil around (top quality name oil) its been siphoned and changed by me as the oil tech dept said I was OK to use it on such low miles but thats between me. the gate post and my wallet. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

What I would do is get a MOT buy a oil filter & oil for under £50 & do it yourself as it’s an easy job.

why the filter?

it's swine to get to, the oil might degrade but the filter doesn't and you aren't going to get much muck in the filter after such few miles.

OK playing devils advocate as I have just "unnecessarily changed the oil and filter (very easy to get to) after 10k miles on the DS - LR recommend 21,000miles between services. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Very good point just drop the oil & leave the filter if it’s only covered 3500 k Thumbs Up
