Strange starting issue

3 times now our 09 td4 auto has failed to start correctly. Push the button and it fires to a tick over, but when put in drive and depressing the pedal nothing happens, the revs don’t rise to move the car. I don’t know if it’s connected or not but when it happens the radio doesn’t light up either. If the car is turned off and started again it’s fine. Has anyone else had anything similar ?

Start with the basics.

Old battery, bin it.
Old fuel filter, change it.
Old key fobs, service them.
Older cars benefit with extra earth lead. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Thanks, new battery this year, big service this year, how do you service the keyfobs ? Don’t they get charged up whilst they are in the dock ?

Had exactly the same with our old one. It would do it every couple of weeks. I noticed that when it happened the fuel gauge would stay at empty, sometimes if I waited 5 to 10 seconds the fuel gauge would start working an the car would drive normally without a restart.
Sorry but no idea what was causing it.

A guy on here services them and is well thought of as they do not last forever. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
