maff sensor fault code

I drove through a very large puddle on the ns today, quite fast,(showing off) when I got 1mile up the road the freelander hesitated at 1800 to 2000 revs then picked up ok,it done this a couple of times.so I pluged it in and got maff sensor problem code po102 and various other codes.so looked at sensor with the view to clean it,it was covered in water.the air cleaner was soaking wet ,the water has come up through the hole in the bottom of the housing where according to old threads there should be a rubber type valve/ washer,so ive plugged the hole with a rubber washer with just enough clearance to let water out, should it come in through the wing air intake.hope this might help some one,so restricted air flow was the cause of maf fault code.

The washer only needs to be made from something similar to bicycle inner tube rubber. Its more of a circular flap than a washer that closes when the system has lower pressure than atmospheric. I understand that later FL2 have a modified wheel arch edge protector on nsf to direct water away from the inlet on the wing.
