so where are Land Rover ?

for those that may be interested (not CG obviously Laughing )

not a single LR/RR product in sight, where they once scored well.

They didn't win any of the categories but they certainly featured in the reviews and had plenty of praise.

are you suggesting some form of bias there ? Whistle

I do like the look of the XC60 though, but it would have to be the D5 or T5 R Dynamic to try and shed the old mans car image Laughing

A number of years ago I had a day out at Millbrook as a prize from Volvo, we drove or were driven on all the different tracks , a good day out if you ever get the chance.

In Australia we are using dualcabs mostly these days because caravans are made for offroad or at least semi offroad. The endless corrugated dirt roads will destroy your standard caravan in minutes!

Then a lot of grey nomads & families have a tinnie (aluminium boat) on the car roof or a couple of kayaks, 9.9 hp outboard motor, two 9 kg gas, 100 litres absolute minimum of water, 40 - 100 litres of fuel, 300+ watts solar panels, 200 to 300 AH batteries, 65 litre compressor esky as well as fridge, fishing gear & another esky for the fish, BBQ, large awnings, bikes, 2 spare wheels for the caravan, 2 spare wheels for the car, recovery gear. Not to forget air conditioning & generator.

The only area we save weight is we don't use the remote control caravan manoeuvring as there is plenty of space!

Beer is bought in cartons of 36 so the weight adds up very quickly when you are remote for long periods.

Even 3.5 tonne towing capacity is really not enough.

http://www.withoutahitch.com.au/caravan/to...s-of-2016/ two LR products on this page, but it is not what you see travelling. In 3 months around Australia I saw about 10 LR products.

Back to the car, a lot of people upgrade the standard fuel tank to larger 180 litres capacity. The keen ones will install 280 litres which is about the maximum one can fit. Plus a few Jerry cars. One person I chatted with could carry 475 litres of fuel!

In case there’s any lawyers reading this .. never . It was all fair and above board.
If it was true tow car of the year there’s only 2 contenders .. FF RR tdv8 or the Bentley. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

it definitely looks like the beginning of the end for Landrover if they can't compete in best Towcar of the year awards.

is that not what they are supposed to be good at Rolling with laughter

One really shouldn't take the Caravan & Motorhome Club tow car awards seriously. Very Happy
