AT Tyres for my 17 inch wheels

I've looking for ages at loads of tyres for my Freelander 2. Still no idea what I should be considering.

Tbh, I get carried away and end up looking at the top end off road tyres which are o good to me, but look ace!

I want a tyre that will be good on the road, as that's where my FL2 is mostly used.......but able to handle a bit of light green laning on a weekend if I get chance.

I keep coming back to the Cooper Discoverer AT3 Sport, but will be any good for what it will be used for?

Current tyre size: 235/65/17......wanting 235/70/17 for that little bit of extra lift.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Advice is use the search button, your interest in tyre selection is a constant. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Pirelli do a 245/65 R17, some Freelancers here have 245/70 R17 which would be the best size for off road, but 245/65 would possibly be easier to get hold of when you destroy a tyre off-roading.

I haven't t had a chance to try my new tyres http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic32292.html since getting back from around Australia but the little bit I have driven, they are quiet, which was my main concern as at the end of the day 98% of my driving is on sealed roads.

The 70 profile will affected the speed of the Land Rover. Slower acceleration, better top speed and if you spend a lot of time on a motorway better mpg. Your speed will be a little faster than you think as well. I think it will not be to noticeable, but it best to keep it in mind.

Agreed - I think it was last week there were three ongoing threads on the same topic, posted under different headings; there's two threads ongoing now about which tyres to buy Confused
All I need do now is search for that search button? Rolling with laughter

There should be 3 topics: 17 inch rims, poodle rims (18") & extra poodle rims (19")! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

A really good compromise for on and off road are Yokohama Geolander AT-S. I've had them on mine and Vesko still uses them. I'm currently running General Grabber AT3's because I won a set at the Eastern Creek 4wd Show. 245/65/17 if you aren't into 4wd much, 245/70/17 if you like to adventure.

I have posted this several times but if you really want you f2 to surprise peeps off road then at2,s are brilliant, yes there is a trade of in mpg and road noise but this doesn't bother me.
