Radio Issues

Hoping someone can help. My radio hasn’t worked since I’ve acquired my 2008 FL2 around 18months ago privately.

It’s constantly scanning for stations and when I either set it or it settles on a stations it’s crackly.

If I’m on higher ground I sometimes get what I would class as 2/10 reception.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what might be at fault or what can be done to rectify it? Thanks in advance!

The radio aerials are in the back side windows, with the connections top and bottom behind trim.

Quote from manual
The antenna sstems fitted to the vehicle comprise:
AM/FM screen mounted antennae or AM/FM diversity system
FM diversity antenna
GPS antenna (where fitted)
SDARS antenna (NAS only) (NAS only, roof pod mounted) or DAB antenna (where fitted, roof pod) VICS beacon antenna (Japan only)
Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) system antenna (side screen or roof pod mounted depending on system)

The AM/FM antenna is etched onto the RH side window glass. The antenna has an amplifier located just above the window. This amplifier will vary upon the entertainment and information system fitted to the vehicle. High line systems will have a larger amplifier for diversity tuning.

The rear window incorporates 2 FM antennae and a VICS/TMC antenna etched onto the glass. The 2 FM antennae are used in the diversity tuning system along with the respective antenna amplifiers.

The LH side window antenna is used for DAB band III signal reception.

• NOTE: The telephone control module incorporates a Bluetooth antenna. This is integral to the module and as such is not serviceable.

If you look at wiring diagrams

https://www.freel2.com/gallery/albums/user...TS_LHD.pdf

and use 'find on page' search for "antenna"

It will show you all the power and signal (coax) connections for your car in the relevent diagrams.

There appear to be aerial preamps in the circuit (in head lining?) which need power (check fuses). and coax connections. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Reviving this newest old thread even though my issue is slightly different

On my last FL2 HSE and Evoque both had the Meridian DAB systems (2013MY and 2011MY respectively)

ive now gone back to a mid 2012 FL2 Sport with the high line audio (non dolby surround) which is the older Alpine branded system.

the DAB cuts out for large geographical areas showing no reception and the FM isn't brilliant either.

Both vehicles that had the Meridian systems had no issues in the same geographical areas as the where im now getting poor reception.

is it likely to be a fault with the FM and the DAB antenna, in separate windows or is it just that its the older hardware that is rubbish ?

any thought please

TIA

Rog

Not had any issues with reception on FM here which is surprising as where we live is a real complete dead spot for DAB and FM is very bad, but we get better reception on FM (Alpine system) with the FL2 than we did with our previous FFRR. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

Yeh its weird as I know DAB and FM both work fine in the same areas as I had no problems with the Meridian systems so im just wondering if its just dated hardware.
