Any good garage could help you it does not have to be a Land Rover garage.

Older cars can suffer from several problems so no one here can give you a perfect answer. A extra Earth lead or starter overhaul may be needed or even a new battery. T

The harsh reality is its going to be a case of trying different things but a code read would possibly tell you the fault and for that you need a garage or your own code reader. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

As YB says, codes are a good start! It may seem obvious, but have you tried a different key? At ten years old the rechargeable batteries in the key fob are getting pretty old. On odd occasions I have to re-insert my key fob a couple of times before it will start. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

The rechargeable batteries are ONLY for the remote lock/unlock. The transponder in the key needs no power and in any case, if the transponder wasn’t working, you wouldn’t start it whatever wires you crossed.

The starter solenoid is a common fault on these cars and may be worth investigating. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Once had something like this on another car it turned out to be corroded and dirty contacts on the starter motor.

Steve, thanks for that. Bang goes my only theory of why I sometimes need to put the fob in several times before it will switch on! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

When I had the same problem I could hear a clicking sound when the car didnt start. It was a lose cable. Lose from the starter-motor

HI, there is a thin blue wire that goes from a cable loom to the starter motor. This is known to wear and corode/break.
Might be worth checking. Look under the bonnet between front of engine and radiator.

I am interested too. I have the same problem. I must press R102 by hand to crank the engine.
