Weed killer or weed burner

I've got a weed problem on my block paved drive. I was going to put weed killer down but then I saw a neighbour who had a weed wand that is a mini flame thrower that burns the weed to nothing. My neighbour said it was a good tool. Has anyone else got experience of such a device? I've read some mixed reviews so didn't know wether to get one or not. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Personally I would use both, kill the weeds then burn them after they have died.

Try this stuff, expensive but one pot will last literally years and years, it works very well
https://www.amazon.co.uk/50g-KATANA-chikar...eed+killer
I think you need professional certificates to apply it, quite suprised amazon sell it
quite a harmles chemical in comparison but never let it go down a drain.

jeyes fluid wont do, it may kill moss etc and some weeds, but possibly your flower beds too, plus it stinks. At work

not banned yet but soon

despite:-

farmers are in mess if they ban it, nothing else as good on the market, we will have to use blends of different products to try and replace it, ultimately using much more product over the farm. At work

Real shame you can't use ammonium sulphamate as a weedkiller anymore though you can buy and use it as a compost accelerator or flame retardant for clothing. Brilliant stuff in its time for weeds like Mares Tail which nothing else works on half as effectively.

Safe, totally effective and used for years until the Irish member of an EU committee refused to sign it off for continued use as a weedkiller unless it was extensively tested for safety with dogs, which the producers were not prepared to pay for, or so I read somewhere.

I have tried the weed burners in the past and not been over impressed with the results or the length of time the weeds stayed dead!

Tried weed killers on my block paved drive, but they always came back.
Then invested in a flame torch & gas.
But you have to apply a lot of flame to a green weed before it shrivels up, but even then, are you getting right down to the root?
I'm not convinced by the longevity of flaming, as the weeds keep coming back.
If you think on, land managers burn moorland heather and that is to kill off the top stuff to stimulate more growth.
So is flaming your weeds not just doing the same - stimulating more growth? FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

depends which weed your looking at,one that sets a good root throught the blocks will take some killing, a surface rooter will die in a drought.

Ammonium Sulphamate would have sorted it roots or no, also great compost accelerator if pricey for that. Google it.

I've got an allotment which is plagued by weeds. Bought this stuff;

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008EQ...&psc=1

Takes a while to start working but believe me it doesn't come back. And I can still plant a few weeks after application.

One word of caution. I carefully sprayed out block paved drive and also path at back. Did it o a calm day but all the grass on the verge has been killed after it rained a few days later. And my prize lawn at the back has four distinct size 13 footprints in it after I must have walked on where I sprayed and then onto the grass. Well its a feature Titmarsh would be proud of Whistle

Thanks all for the replies, I've got some strong agricultural weed killer from a friend of a friend. I'll see how that goes first before I think about a weed burner. Thanks again. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
