New Tyres

My 63 plate LR2 is ready for new boots on the front 3mm left,it has cover 30500 miles on Goodyear Wranglers on the front.

The rears are still at 7mm as one tyre was replaced and I put the new spare on the rear so back tyres are like new.

Costco say they 4wd policy is 4mm between front and rear tread depths.

My question is do I put new tyres on the front, and move the rear tyres to the front and two new tyres on the back .

Should I also stick with with Goodyear's or are the less noisy tyres.

Any advice is welcome as I dont want diff problems

Thanks Richard

I would replace all four and then every year swap tyres front to back to even out the wear . If your happy with the Goodyears stick with them , I had them on a previous Fl2 and found them a good all round tyre .

There are better tyres out there but if your happy with them stick with it but try and get the depth mm balanced front to back as its not a good idea to have large differences. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

If you had 30,000 out of Goodyear stick with them & if you have 7mm remaining on the rears put the new tyres on the front as a new tyre will have around 8mm

Technically the new tyres should always go on the rear (lots of info about this on the internet) but as you have plenty of tread on the rears I think you'll be fine putting them on the front. As above, swap them over from time to time and even out the wear, so that you'll be able to buy four new ones next time (and keep the best of five as your spare). You'll notice a noise difference - Goodyears get very noisy at less than 4mm. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

New Tyres

Hi All

After several years and always fitting Goodyear Wranglers All Weather tyres, that's what was fitted when new and is fitted to most Freelander's

I have had a full set of Goodyears Efficiency tyres fitted my car and has totally transformed the car, much better and runs much smoother,

I cant believes the difference
Richard
